Americans were messy, foul, boozer and theoretical (pp. 18-22); libertarian, moral from outside however pedantic (p. 23-24); and against convention, unconcerned to scholarly achievements, and unbiased in standa rds (pp. 27-31). Pessen concurs with the guests that a Jacksonian American, â€Å"possibly† a realist, engaged bias enhanced by pitilessness and greed, vanity and egotistism; he was willfully ignorant of any intricate circumstance, impartial in standards (p. 31). Nonetheless, Pessen doesn't concur that a Jacksonin American was an offspring of the boondocks, an internal coordinated traditionalist, and a modest republican looking longingly to the past (p. 30).
